Empowering kids in nature
Success comes easily… when you know who you are and what you are capable of.
“Kids should learn this stuff in school!”
It doesn’t matter what we’re teaching or coaching on… clients say this to us all the time… and they are right. Children should definitely learn that their sensations, not their thoughts, create their reality. They should learn how to modify their sensations so they can achieve emotional independence. They should learn success principles and the natural laws of the universe so they can be optimistic, empowered, and agents of change. However, children don’t need to sit down and learn these things in a classroom. Rather… the best way for children to learn these things is by experiencing them first hand.
There is a very real transition that happens for children when they move from childhood into young adulthood. It is a transition that is not celebrated in our culture or met with positive anticipation. It is a time when children are expected to be lazy, defiant, rude, and rebellious. Sure… some of these things do come along with the teenager experience, however, some of this “resistance to change” comes from the fact that we disempower young adults in general by not giving them a chance to really see, really feel what they are capable of in terms of natural challenges.
We could try to fabricate this experience of empowerment… however it’s right there waiting for children in the natural world.
When young adults are given the opportunity to interact with nature, they learn what they are capable of and who they are. When they experience natural challenges with a group of supportive peers they learn how to be leaders, how to be vulnerable, how to support and to be supported in a way that we often don’t give children in our “modern society.” Children who experience nature in this way do not need to learn the things that we teach at Motivation Beyond Measure because they embody those qualities- naturally. They are mentally well, emotionally healthy, and know how to motivate themselves and others, sustainably, by tapping into true purpose and authenticity.
Every child deserves the opportunity to experience exceptional levels of mental wellness and emotional wellbeing as a way of LIFE.”

We give 5% of every dollar that comes into our business to send a child who wouldn’t normally be able to go… into the woods… So they can find their “true home.”

Motivation Beyond Measure has partnered with the Deepwater Project. DEEP is a not-for-profit organization that provides funding for young people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds to participate in Northwaters & Langskib wilderness canoe programs.
Northwaters Langskib
Canoe camping is just the beginning… Northwaters and Langskib (NWL) offer wilderness adventures designed to engage and empower young people. Within the context of a fun and challenging canoe trip, NWL use proven techniques in community building, group process, experiential learning, and storytelling to create a pathway through adolescence. This approach makes them unique among wilderness adventure camps. And provides children with an experience of embodied empowered meaning.
This mission is not about sending kids to camp.
Living in the northeast of northern North America, there are many “camps” that give children outdoor experiences. However not all camps are a safe place for children, let alone children who have experienced trauma, which unfortunately underprivileged children are more likely to have in their life’s history. Not only are many camps not psychologically safe, but many also are not diverse due to having the vast majority of campers be from privileged families. Many camps also employ a less than diverse staff.
Our mission is to give children an empowering experience of authenticity, self-reliance, vulnerability, psychological safety where children are encouraged to grow into the best version of themselves. They learn how to be with the land, the water, and the sky, how to be with one another, and ultimately how to be with themselves.
At Motivation Beyond Measure we strive to give our clients this experience.
This is the experience that has been created at the internationally recognized Northwaters Langskib program.
We are committed to helping kids who couldn’t otherwise afford it experience Motivation Beyond Measure… as a way of LIFE by donating to DEEP and the Northwaters Langskib programing.
